14 Μάι Διάλεξη με Τίτλο “The Changing Geospatial Landscape”
Τη Δευτέρα 20.5.19 στις 11πμ-1μμ η ΒΚΠ του Χαροκοπείου Πανεπιστημίου, μέλος της Ομάδας Γεωγραφικών Βιβλιοθηκών θα έχει τη χαρά, στο πλαίσιο των δράσεων της Ομάδας, να φιλοξενήσει τoν Ομότιμο Καθηγητή του University of South Carolina κο David Cowen, μέλος του UCGIS, Πρώην Πρόεδρο της National Geospatial Advisory Committee, όπου θα δώσει διάλεξη με τίτλο “The Changing Geospatial Landscape”.
Με το πέρας της ομιλίας θα ακολουθήσει συζήτηση. Η ομιλία θα πραγματοποιηθεί στα αγγλικά ενώ δεν θα υπάρχει μετάφραση.

This presentation examines the past five decades of GIS developments. By combining the findings of a report written for the US National Geospatial Advisory Committee with personal experiences, the presentation highlights the major steps in the evolution of the GIS technology and its impact on society.
It identifies the major advancements in hardware, software, data capture, storage and networking that have laid the groundwork for the indispensable role that geospatial technology now plays in our lives. Finally, it analyzes recent trends that will impact future applications.
