Foteini Efthymiou has been working as a Special Technical Laboratory Staff (STLS) in the ALIS Department since November 2019. According to the Internal Operating Regulations of the University of West Attica, as defined for STLS members, she offers specialized technical laboratory services for the best execution of educational, research and applied work.
- Regarding the educational work, in collaboration with the main teachers, she designs, implements and evaluates the laboratory part of the courses “Introduction to Descriptive Cataloging” and “Standardization of bibliographic records” as well as the practical part of the course “Information Literacy“. She also offers individualized tutoring sessions to students who are preparing graduate or diploma theses, in which she is a member of the examination committee.
- Regarding the laboratory and applied work, she is a member of the Information Management Research Lab of the ALIS Department, which implements funded research initiatives, such as the “ERASMUS+ KA2 EDUCABILITY Program (2021-2023)” and the Project “81118 – DIGISTORYTELLER ΑΤΤΡ4-0352249 (2022-2023)”, in which she has participated as well as “Integrated Library System as a Service – ILSaS+” in which she participates during this period.
She worked as a librarian in the Central Library of the N.T.U.A. from 1999 to 2019, and during that period she participated in various projects and programs and in the organization of conferences and workshops.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Librarianship from the School of Management and Economics of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens (1994-1998) and a Master of Arts in Librarianship from the Information School of the Faculty of Social Sciences of The University of Sheffield in the UK (2004-2005). Her main research interests concern media and information literacy, educational models, educational technologies, cataloging and scientific communication, for which she has so far made several announcements at conferences and workshops and publications in scientific journals and collective volumes. She is a PhD Candidate in the ALIS Department from 2020 (Summary of PhD Research).
