The Department also offers doctoral studies. The Doctoral Program aims at promoting original scientific research, and at creating a new, active and highly qualified team of information scientists who will work as high end professionals at national and international organizations and respective academic departments.
The Doctoral Program leads to a PhD degree, which certifies the conduct, writing and presentation of independent original scientific research and reflects the substantial contribution to the development of knowledge and science.
During the Doctoral Program candidates prepare an original Doctoral Dissertation according to the international academic standards under the supervision of a Three-Member Advisory Committee (article 38 of law 4485/2017).
The Doctoral program is addressed to holders of a Postgraduate Diplomas (MSc) from domestic university, or a foreign equivalent (recognized by the National Authority Board DOATAP). A non-holder of a MSc may be accepted as a PhD candidate if he / she meets the conditions and criteria presented in the following paragraph. The Department Assembly may require from a doctoral candidate to attend courses of the Undergraduate Studies Program or the Postgraduate Program (MSc) of the Department or of another Department of the University of West Attica, which will be appointed upon the recommendation of the supervisor.
Non MSc holders may, after a reasoned decision of the Assembly, be accepted as PhD candidates if they meet the following conditions:
