The course focuses on descriptive document processing and the management of bibliographic information, with emphasis on the selection, creation and standardization of access points in libraries. Students will gain knowledge of the international standards AACR2, ISBDs, RDA and MARC, understanding the importance of access points and the tools used to organize bibliographic records. Through hands-on practice in automated library systems, such as Koha, they will become familiar with the rules of standardization and data establishment, as well as the specificities of each type of document. The course encourages the development of analytical and compositional skills, as students will be required to implement and evaluate the accuracy of the access points they create, ensuring consistency and compliance with international standards, both in print and electronic formats.
