The aim of this course is to provide a fundamental understanding of cultural management concepts, as well as the theoretical and ethical frameworks related to the operation of museums and libraries. It explores the differences between governmental and non-governmental organizations and examines the role of international organizations in protecting cultural heritage.
The course analyzes key concepts such as culture, cultural identity, cultural property, cultural heritage, intangible cultural heritage, cultural internationalism, multiculturalism, cultural management, cultural centers, and cultural landscapes.
It also explores the historical development and role of cultural industries, presenting representative examples.
A significant focus is placed on the protection of global cultural heritage, examining international organizations, conventions during wartime and peacetime, and worldwide preservation efforts. Particular emphasis is given to UNESCO and the cultural sites listed on the World Heritage List.
