Professor

Georgios Giannakopoulos (former Director of the General State Archives and former Head of the Department of Archival, Library & Information Studies for twelve years) is a Professor in the Department of Archival, Library & Information Studies at the University of West Attica. He studied Librarianship at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, Political Science at the Panteion University (Greece) and received a PhD diploma from the University of Athens. He was a research associate of the Center for Asia Minor Studies for fifteen years and collaborated for seventeen years with the Hellenic Open University on the topic of Greek History. He currently teaches in the postgraduate programs of Information Management in LAM’s (University of West Attica) and Public History (Hellenic Open University).

He has published numerous studies (monographs, articles in scientific journals and collective volumes) and has edited journals, books, conference proceedings, collective volumes and luxury historical albums. He is the co-editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Integrated Information Management.
