The “Literature” course in the sixth semester explores the key concepts and analytical tools used to study world literature, examining both the European and Greek literary and cultural traditions, past and present. It delves into major theoretical approaches and literary movements in both World and Modern Greek Literature, with a particular focus on the 19th and 20th centuries.

Students analyze significant literary figures and texts—especially from Modern Greek literature—to trace its evolution, highlight the distinctive stylistic and thematic choices of different literary movements, and explore the dynamic interactions between Greek literature and other cultural traditions. The course aims to equip students not only with a solid understanding of fundamental literary concepts but also with insight into the interdisciplinary discussions shaping contemporary research on literary writing and the act of reading.
