This undergraduate-level course (Level 6) focuses on information systems related to libraries and information units in both traditional (print) and modern (digital) environments.

Upon completion, students will:

  • Gain knowledge of fundamental concepts related to systems, information systems, and information management in libraries and similar units.
  • Understand key principles of system analysis, design, and the full lifecycle of information systems.
  • Analyze the needs of an information system, accurately identifying requirements and defining essential implementation parameters.
  • Synthesize by designing new information systems for libraries and information units or improving existing ones. The course applies these concepts to library systems but also explores systems used in various organizations, such as insurance companies, banks, and industries.
  • Evaluate different library and information system programs, developing criteria for comparison and assessment, with a focus on their current and potential application in Greece.
