The “Applications of Reading Literacy” course in the seventh semester focuses on the design and implementation of reading groups in modern libraries and educational settings. It explores key conceptual and methodological approaches to reading attitudes, reader engagement, and reading as both an individual and collective experience. The course highlights the vital role of librarians in fostering intellectual growth and enhancing readers’ sensitivity, catering to children, teenagers, and adult library users alike. It also examines the collaboration and interaction between educators and librarians within today’s cultural landscape, addressing all stages of reader response.
Students explore strategies to cultivate reading interest, adapt reading engagement techniques to different literary genres, and design a variety of reading activities. The course also introduces methods for utilizing and integrating library collections to enhance language skills, connect readers’ personal experiences with cultural narratives, and expand their literary perspectives. Special emphasis is placed on applying both critical and active reading strategies, implementing key reading theories in practice, and developing strong reading communities.
