The course Society and Information analyses the theoretical prerequisites of modern social transformation, the main characteristic of which is the spectacular development of information as the main productive and communicative factor. The process of economic development is directly linked to the dynamics of information. The social structure and social relations are directly affected by this development at the national, European and global levels. The course examines the manifestations of the social impacts of information, both on information organizations (archives, libraries, museums) and on citizens. A historical review of the evolution of technology and information in the 20th century is made, reaching the present day, where the Internet and social networking media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, ResearchGate, etc.) affect people’s daily lives.
